Kim Nelson and her husband, artist Richard Christian Nelson, owners of Skyuka Fine Art, Tryon, NC’s newest art gallery will present their first gallery concert featuring Tryon’s own Stereo Fidelics, and local guitar maker Jay Lichty on Saturday, January 29, at 7pm.
The gallery is honored to have Tryon luthier (guitar maker) Jay Lichty give an informal talk on his award-winning work, and play his beautiful guitars and ukeleles a bit. Then Tryon’s own Stereo Fidelics will rock the house with their unique indie music!
From his luthier’s shop in Tryon, Jay Lichty produces custom handmade guitars and ukuleles. The blend of expert craftsmanship and skill as a musician come together in each instrument to create one-of-a-kind guitars and ukuleles that are treasures to own and to play.
The Stereo Fidelics are a high-energy, original retro-alt-rock band that blends mind-bending improvisation and extreme instrumental choreography to deliver an exciting show for both the eyes and ears. By showcasing their multi-instrumental capability, they are able to operate completely as a duet and deliver a full sound. Chris Padgett shreds solos and lays down the groove on the guitar, tickles the synthesizer, sings lead/harmony vocals, and pounds out synth basslines on a floor keyboard while Melissa McGinley contributes lead/harmony vocals, holds down the rhythm on the kit, and throws in string pads and raging violin solos.
We will be selling tickets in advance for this event, mainly so we know how many chairs to rent and how much food and drink we need at the show. Tickets will be available at the door on the night of the concert if there is any room left. Pre-sale ticket price: Adults $7 Children $5 and at the door ticket price: Adults $10 Children $5.
We will be donating a portion of the proceeds to Tryon Elementary School’s Art Room.
Skyuka Fine Art is located at 133 N. Trade Street in Tryon, NC. Gallery hours are Tue.-Sat., 10am-5pm.
