UNC Asheville in Asheville, NC, Presents Lecture by Graphic Novelist Gareth Hinds – Mar. 1, 2011

UNC Asheville in Asheville, NC, will present a lecture by graphic novelist Gareth Hinds on Mar. 1, 2011, at 7pm in UNC Asheville’s Humanities Lecture Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Hinds is the creator of several critically-acclaimed graphic novel adaptations of classic literature, including Beowulf, King Lear, and the Odyssey. His multimedia presentation will focus on his artistic process and career, including his choice of classic themes, as well as touching on aspects of production and marketing.

Hinds’ publications include five graphic novels and a number of graphic short stories. His work has been featured in various exhibitions, including Fine Toon in the Helen Day Art Center in Vermont, the New York Historical Society’s Slavery in New York and the Society of Illustrators, ILLUSTRATORS 44 Exhibition, in New York. His work within the computer animation industry has included creating 2D and 3D art for environments, characters, conceptual design, modeling, animation and art direction.
