Avery Pottery and Tileworks in Seagrove, NC, will hold its Fall Kiln Opening on Oct, 15, 2011, from 9am- 5pm and Oct. 16, 2011, from 11am-5pm.
Blaine Avery only fires his salt glazing kiln two times a year. This year’s fall selections will be something spectacular! He is working on new imagery for this firing, and is hard hand painting and slip trailing many pots with new zoomorphic imagery and patters.
Avery will also be glazing many of pots in this firing. The glazes featured will be Frog Skin and Oribe glazes and look for some new ones too!
Avery was recently invited to be a Visiting Artist at The University Of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, where he conducted a workshop “Making A Life In Clay”. He will also be published in the new international ceramics magazine Ceramics Now, this November 2011.
Blaine M. Avery is a accomplished potter who has been making pots for over 20 years. He apprenticing under well known North Carolina Living Treasure, Sid Oakley. His work is highly sought and collected. It can be found in The Mint Museum of Art, Charlotte, NC. As well as many prominent corporate and private collections.
The Kiln Opening will be held at his Studio and show room, located at 636 Potters Way Road in Seagrove, NC. The studio is a work of art as well, Avery designed and built it him self, using many salvaged and recycled material.
