The Stanly Arts Guild Annual Member Art Show opened at the Falling Rivers Gallery 119 West Main St. in downtown Albemarle, NC, on Oct. 7, 2011, with judging completed by Brian Carney. Carney is an award winning artist from Charlotte, NC, who is currently specializing in wildlife paintings.
The Member Show awards 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for two categories; 2D or wall art, and 3D work which includes sculpture, wood, jewelry, gourds, ceramic, and some glass items.
In the 2D category, 1st place was awarded to Tammy Palmer, 2nd place to Fran Thrower, and 3rd to Zelma Eudy.
In the 3D category, 1st place was awarded to Nancy Lipe, 2nd to David Arey, and 3rd to Bobbie Listerman.
Honorable Mention ribbons were awarded in both categories. Erin Allen, Lee Crowell, Reda Icenhour, Jaclyn Layman, Ed Lipe, Jane Rogers and Deb Russell received these awards.
The Stanly Arts Guild has been holding this member show for many years as a way for all members to exhibit their work regardless of experience, which makes it one of the most interesting shows of the year. Last year the show was expanded to include both 2D and 3D art allowing all of our members to participate. Carney was very impressed with the variety of art represented by the guild membership.
In addition to the Galleries usual offerings, entered work will be on display at the Gallery and most are available for sale until Oct. 28, 2011.
