Ronald McDonald House Charities of Columbia, SC, Call For Artists to Participate in Art With A Heart Fundraiser

June 28, 2011

Editorial Comment: I would be concerned about any organization asking you to provide your e-mail list for their use. Once they have it – they can’t or won’t give it back. Do you want the important contacts on your e-mail list subjected to fundraising? You’re already giving them 30% of sales – if you make sales. Don’t give them something as important as your e-mail list for this opportunity which only last a few hours. Let them bring their supporter to this event.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Columbia, SC, is looking for painters, sculptors, potters, textile, jewelry, photography, glass artisans and more to participate in Art With A Heart Show on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, from 5:30 to 8:30pm, at 701 Center for Contemporary Art, 701 Whaley Street, Columbia.

Artists are required to have artwork display set-up by 5pm. All un-sold artwork must be removed from 701 Whaley by 9:30pm. All artists will have their own 8’ x 8’ work space and are asked to bring their own display tools (table, easels, etc.)

Each artist is asked to supply a copy of their mailing list to RMHC upon selection and agree to donate 30% of their sales to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Columbia.

Artists will be decided by Thursday, July 21, 2011, so please send samples soon!

Each year more than 350 families are served by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Columbia, SC through one or both cornerstone programs, the Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald Family Room. These families are seeking shelter and solace during an extremely stressful time in their lives – facing the uncertainties of having a critically ill or injured child.  It is only because of the generosity and support of the community that we have been able to continue to ensure the highest quality of care and comfort for these families by providing them a safe and loving “home away from home” so they can focus on being together when being together is most important.

Space is limited to 25 artists and spots are filling up quickly! This is a family event and we ask all artists to bring family friendly artwork. With the current state of the economy, we are looking for a variety of artwork on the lower end of the price scale, solely to encourage sales to benefit both the artist and RMHC of Columbia, SC.

To be considered, please send art samples to:
Alex Nicyper by fax at 803/254-0119 or e-mail to (alex@rmhcofcolumbia.org).
