Mooresville Artist Guild Holds The Art Forum 2nd Thursday of Each Month at the Depot Art Gallery in Mooresville, NC.

September 20, 2011

Mooresville Artist Guild announces The Art Forum, held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7pm at the Depot Art Gallery, 103 W Center Ave (at the corner of Main and Center) in Mooresville, NC.  There is no charge to attend.

Art Forum is an opportunity for artists, sculptors, photographers and other artists to bring in completed works of art and get the benefit of helpful critique. Artists are asked to do an assignment each month to be analyzed in the following month’s forum. Or artists may choose to bring in work that meets an assignment of their own or even an old piece.  The aim of the forum is to make each participant a better artist in the end.

John Triolo leads the discussion, but keeps it as a freewheeling open dialog among fellow artists. Triolo has been an artist his whole life. He was executing oil paintings at age five. He has worked in almost every media including oils, acrylics, watercolors, scenery for plays, sculpture, stained glass, pottery, photography, film making, film editing, and animation. Triolo has taught at The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and lectured at Parsons School of Design and Pratt Institute. He’s a graduate of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. His work has been shown in numerous galleries and has been on exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. However, Triolo is most well known as an Art Director and Creative Director in advertising.

During Triolo’s ad career, he has worked with some of the best artists, photographers, and designers in the world. He has done thousands of print ads and hundreds of TV commercials that you have probably seen. His work has won some of advertising’s highest praise. Triolo’s awards include ANDY’s, Clio’s, Cannes Lion’s, and a One Show Silver Pencil. He has also won an Art Director’s Club Gold Medal, the most prestigious award for an Art Director, for his “Bull in the China Shop” TV commercial for Merrill Lynch, and a Silver Medal for the Merrill Lynch TV campaign. Currently, Triolo is retired, but still works in acrylics on canvas as often as he can. He produces about one or two paintings a month and doesn’t want to work any harder than that.

For more information please see (www.MAGart.org) or contact John Triolo by e-mail at (jtriolo@mi-connection.com) or call 704/896-5263.
