Northern Moore Family Resource Center in Robbins, NC, Offers Behind the Scenes Pottery Tour in Seagrove, NC – May 15, 2011

The Northern Moore Family Resource Center in Robbins, NC, will present the 1st Annual Behind the Scenes Pottery Tour in Seagrove, NC, on Sunday, May 15, 2011, from 2 – 7pm.

Enjoy delicious appetizers and wine at each pottery and have dessert and coffee at our main gathering place in Robbins. Learn from the potters what makes their work unique. A shuttle service will be available to and from our gathering place to potteries.

Patron tickets:$100
(commemorative pottery piece included in price)

Individual tickets:$45

Featured Potteries include:

From the Ground Up Pottery – Michael Mahan, will be crafting platters that feature elegant trees.

Dean and Martin Pottery – Stephanie Martin and Jeff Dean will show guests how they hand build unique boxes and tableware.

Luck’s Ware – Fifth generation potter and North Carolina Treasure, Sid Luck, will throw pots in his family’s traditional style. His family has always fired their wares in a wood-burning groundhog kiln. The kiln will be firing for this event.

Bulldog Pottery – Samantha Henneke and Bruce Gholson will be demonstrating the glazing techniques they use to create their vibrant collection.

Seagrove Stoneware – David Fernandez will have all three of his wheels on the floor of his gallery! Become a potter for a day! Turn your own pot with an expert.

Avery Pottery and Tileworks – Blaine Avery, who looks to early American folk art for inspiration, will show how he creates his exclusive tile work.

McCanless Pottery – Observe Will McCanless’ talent as he paints intricate designs free-hand using Chinese calligraphy brushes on delicate hand-turned plates.

The Behind the Scenes Pottery Tour is a fundraiser for the Northern Moore Family Resource Center, located at 130 S. Middleton Street in Robbins, NC. They help with after school programs for three local schools and help send children to summer camp, among other projects.
