Caldwell Arts Council in Lenoir, NC, Announces “29th Annual Sculptural Celebration” – Sept. 6, 2014

The Caldwell Arts Council in Lenoir, NC, in partnership with Tri State Sculptors Association, announces the “29th Annual Sculpture Celebration” to be held 9am to 4pm, Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at the T.H. Broyhill Walking Park, 945 Lakewood Circle in Lenoir.

The Celebration will feature sculptural artwork by artists from across the eastern United States who will compete for cash prizes totaling $11,000.00. Realistic and abstract, traditional and contemporary, movable and stationary, indoor and outdoor – sculptures of all types will be on display.  The juror for this year’s event is Asheville, NC, artist Randy Shull.

Lenoir’s “Annual Sculpture Celebration” is recognized as the longest-running sculpture competition in the Southeast and a driving force in the area’s sculptor-friendly environment. The event started small but now attracts artists and visitors from across the United States. “This is a great show for both experienced artists and for a first-time art experience,” says Lee Carol Giduz, Caldwell Arts Council Executive Director.

Food vendors, children’s art activities, and live music from the Sylvio Martinat Swing Band and Strictly Clean and Decent will be featured throughout the day

Blue Jeans Preview Party will be held on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014.

Many sculptors arrive early to install larger sculptures and to pick the best spot for their artwork. A buffet dinner will be held to welcome them and to introduce the judge and sponsors of the event on Friday, Sept. 5 beginning at 7pm.  This event is free for registered sculptors, $20 in advance for guests.

Artists May Register Now

Registration for “Sculpture Celebration” is open to any 3-D artist up to the day of the event, and each sculptor may present up to three sculptures. Cost to register the day of the Sculpture Celebration is $80; significant discounts are available for early registration. Details of participation are available on the website (www.caldwellarts.com).

The Caldwell Arts Council in partnership with Tri State Sculptors Association, announces the 28th Annual Sculpture Celebration to be held 9am to 4pm, Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at T.H. Broyhill Walking Park in Lenoir, NC. Admission is free.

The Celebration will feature sculptural artwork by artists from across the United States who are competing for cash prizes totaling more than $10,000. More than 150 sculptures – realistic and abstract, traditional and contemporary, movable and stationary, indoor and outdoor – will be on display and entered in the juried competition. The juror for this year’s event is Craig Pleasants, Artistic Director of the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.

27th Annual Sculpture Celebration Takes Place in Lenoir, NC – Sept. 8, 2012

The 27th Annual Sculpture Celebration takes place on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, from 9am-4pm, at T.H. Broyhill Walking Park, 945 Lakewood Circle in Lenoir NC

Sculpture Celebration brings over 70 sculptors with over 200 sculptures from all over the eastern US to compete for cash prizes totaling over $10,000. Preview dinner Friday evening is free to sculptors, $15 for guests. Meet sculptors and judge Jerry Bolas, newly appointed Executive Director of the City of Raleigh Arts Commission.

Caldwell Arts Council Offers the 26th Annual Sculpture Celebration in Lenoir, NC – Sept. 9 & 10, 2011

On Friday evening, Sept. 9, 2011, 7-9pm, public invited meet participating Sculpture Celebration sculptors & judge during the Blue Jeans Preview Party at the T.H. Broyhill Walking Park on Lakeview Street in Lenoir.

Cost for this event is $15/person and reservations may be made by calling 828/754-2486.

On Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, 9am-4pm the 26th Annual Sculpture Celebration will feature sculptural artwork by artists from the eastern US in competition for cash prizes totaling over $10,000.

This art event is free to everyone, and is sponsored annually by local individuals & businesses, along with the Caldwell Arts Council and Tri State Sculptors Association.

Food vendors will be available, and Foothills Visual Artists Guild will provide art activities for children.

Musical groups performing during the day will be Sweetbriar Jam 10am-noon and local group Puddingstone will perform between 1-3pm.

Monetary awards will be announced at about 3:30pm, followed by a walking tour and discussion by the judge.

The Caldwell Arts Council and Tri State Sculptors Association is calling for participation in the 26th annual Sculpture Celebration to be held in Lenoir, NC, Sept. 10, 2011.

Events include, a Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, from 7-8:30pm – Blue Jeans Preview Party – meet sculptors, judge and patrons; $15/person.
