Randolph Arts Guild in Asheboro, NC, Calls for Entries for Its 30th Annual Juried Arts Show – Deadline June 2, 2012

Randolph Arts Guild in Asheboro, NC, is calling for entries for its 30th Annual Juried Arts Show to be shown at the Sara Smith Self Gallery, Moring Arts Center in Asheboro, NC.

AWARDS – Best in Show ($200.00), First Place ($150.00), Second Place ($100.00), Third Place ($50.00), and Honorable Mention Ribbons

This year’s juror is John D. Gall, Artist / Printmaker, from Greensboro, NC.

As an artist John D. Gall has been making original prints for over 20 years. He strives to tell stories with his art, whether indirectly as metaphors or directly as narratives. His subjects are often dreamed, imagined, or experienced, as an autobiographical interpretation.  For Gall any person, place, time or thing can be a source for inspiration allowing freedom and diversity of subject matter. Gall often works in series, pursuing an idea until as he states, “it has been explored, drained, and pushed to the limits of my interest.”

Born in St. Louis, MO, Gall found is way to North Carolina in the 1970’s.  He is a graduate of Guilford College and currently resides with his wife in Greensboro, NC.  His work has been featured in many national exhibitions and in 2011 John was invited to exhibit in the Sanbao International Biennial Printmaking Exhibition, Symposium, Workshop, and Tour 2011, at Sanbao Village, Jingdezhen City, China.

REGULATIONS: Open to all artists. Each artist may submit up to three original works which have been completed in the last two years. Work must not have been entered in previous RAG Juried Art Shows. Pedestals are available for freestanding work. Wall work must be ready to hang. At least one piece of each artist’s work will be shown. Work should be ready for display and able to withstand handling. For work requiring special installation, or very large pieces, please inquire before submitting.

ENTRY FEES: $20.00 RAG members for up to three submissions. $25.00 for non-members. (Annual individual memberships are $30.00. Please join to receive our quarterly newsletter and frequent arts emails.) Make checks payable to RAG.

RECEIVING: Entries should be delivered to the Moring Arts Center, 123 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, on Friday, June 1 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Saturday, June 2 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

NOTIFICATION: Award winners will be notified by phone prior to the opening reception. Declined work may be picked up after the reception or any time during business hours.

OPENING RECEPTION: The opening reception and award ceremony will be held Tuesday, June 5 (5:30-7:30 p.m.) at the Moring Arts Center. All entrants and their families are invited to enjoy refreshments and meet the other artists. The Juror will remark on the works selected as prize-winners and will be available to answer questions.

LIABILITY: All reasonable care will be given to submitted work. The Randolph Arts Guild assumes no responsibility for loss or damage to Juried Art Show entries.

SALES: Sales are encouraged although work not for sale (NFS) may be submitted. A commission of 25% is payable to the Randolph Arts Guild on all sales. Please price your work accordingly.

REMOVAL: The show will remain on display through Thursday, June 29. Work may be picked up after the show is over, between the hours of 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday (closed Sundays). Works left past August 1 will become property of RAG.

RIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: The Randolph Arts Guild reserves the right to photograph and reproduce all entries for publicity and educational purposes. Submission of entries constitutes agreement by the entrant with the conditions set forth above.
