Lancaster, SC, Artist, Bob Doster’s Works Accepted in Southeast Competitions!

Lancaster, SC, artist Bob Doster’s works have been traveling from state to state in the past few months and show no signs of slowing down, as the well-known artist’s works head to featured exhibits, public art showings, and competitions throughout the United States. Known for works from monumental sculpture to home décor, Doster has spent a great part of his career working with students in schools, camps, and special arts programs. As a result, the SC Arts Commission awarded him the state’s highest honor for his life-long commitment to arts in education, the Verner O’Neill Governor’s Award. The locations where Doster’s works are found offer parents and teachers opportunities to encourage students to visit and explore their own creativity.

Until April 1st, Doster’s “Wind & Waves” Series is featured at Saul Alexander Galleries of the Charleston County Public Library, in Charleston, SC, while the Arts Center of Clemson, SC, will exhibit Doster’s work from March 15 until April 28th for “Art in the Garden”. Two “Wind & Waves” sculptures have been accepted through an annual competition at University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, GA, while “Rising Star” will be installed at University of North Georgia in Gainesville, GA. Both open March 24 for the yearlong exhibits. Also in Georgia, the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation selected one of Doster’s sculptures for its annual juried competition “Southworks”, which will run April 1-30, 2014.

Cary, NC, has contracted with Doster for exhibition of  a sculpture until January 2015 for “Sculpture in the Landscape” public art project. “Dancer” was accepted for the “9th Annual Sculpture Competition” by North Charleston Cultural Arts Center, in North Charleston, SC, and will be on exhibit for eleven months beginning April 2015. The highly competitive “Art Fields” completion in Lake City, SC, selected Doster’s work for exhibition beginning mid-April.

Coming in May, Doster has work going to Texas for the “Beaumont Art League National Competition” and to Martinsburg, WV, where works were selected for the Berkley Arts Council “Art & Earth Competition”. In January and February 2015, the City of North Charleston will host Doster’s works as the featured artist in its Meeting Street Gallery. Later in 2015, Doster will be featured artist at Lancaster County Council of the Arts Springs House Galleries.

Bob Doster’s Backstreet Studio, located in the heart of Lancaster, SC, at 217 East Gay Street, has been featured in “Southern Living”, SCETV, “Sandlapper”, and many other media resources.
