The Art League of Henderson County will feature local abstract artist and teacher Kimberly Walton at its monthly meeting on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at the Opportunity House, 2411 Asheville Highway, Hendersonville, NC. The event begins at 1:30pm with a reception, followed by the meeting and Walton’s presentation, “Pushing the Boundaries of Abstract Painting.” The public is cordially invited to attend.

Walton will present her new abstract paintings inspired by motherhood and demonstrate her spontaneous process of abstract painting with non-traditional materials. She is presently exploring art materials and non traditional surfaces. She “paints” with oil sticks, spray paint, charcoal, acrylic paint. She has exhibited throughout the southeast with group, juried and solo exhibits, and has won a number of awards for her work.
As guest artist, Walton’s paintings will be exhibited in the Sylvia Campbell Room at the Opportunity House. Also the Art League members will exhibit their response to a challenge to create paintings that include some type of reflections. The members’ exhibit will be displayed in the hallways. Both exhibits will be available for free public viewing Oct. 11 – Nov. 6, 2014.
