Arts Council of York County in Rock Hill, SC, Offers Small Arts Grants – Deadline Mar. 1, 2015


Small Grants are available to individual artists, non-profit organizations and schools throughout York County, SC. The deadline to apply for small grants through the Arts Council of York County is 5pm on Sunday, Mar. 1, 2015.

The Small Grants Program provides support for small or pilot arts activities, artist professional development, new and developing programs or organizations, and special projects of high artistic quality that cannot support themselves. Previous grant recipients include Carolina Crown (music), Simply Creative Works (No Fear For Freedom: the musical) Carolinas Wind Orchestra (music), Culture & Heritage Museums (art exhibit), Doris Ezell-Schmitz  (poet), Saluda Trail Middle School (photography), WFBK (music), and the York County Choral Society (music).

The Arts Council awarded a total of $4,500 to projects occurring during our January – March 2015 granting period. Organizations and individual artists may request up to $1,000 per grant and may receive up to two grants in a calendar year.  Applications for the April – June 2015 granting period are due by Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 5 PM.  Information and applications are available at (, on the Grants page under the The Arts heading. The Arts Council’s offices are closed the first, third (and fifth) weekends each month. Should the deadline fall on a weekend, grant applications must be submitted by 5pm the Friday before. Prospective applicants MUST discuss the proposed project with the Executive Director at least 10 days in advance of the application deadline date.

This small grants program is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts and the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation.
