City of Lancaster, SC, Offers 6th Annual Red Rose Festival – May 15 and 16, 2015


The City of Lancaster, SC, invites you to play in their streets on May 15 and May 16, 2015, with the arrival of the 6th Annual Red Rose Festival. This year’s event includes outdoor concerts, arts, crafts, Kids Zone, Red Rose Car Show by Memory Lane Cruisers, Red Rose Dog Show by the Lancaster SPCA, Photography Contest by the Lancaster County Council of the Arts and roaming entertainment & much more.

Join us from 6 to 10pm on May 15 and 10am to 10pm on May 16 in beautiful historic downtown Lancaster sponsored in-part with The Lancaster News, WRHI/Inter State 107 and Rapid Signs, LLC.

This year’s festival will feature over 75 artisans, crafters, food vendors, as well as an A-list of international, national and locally known music artists.

Friday’s featured event begins at 6pm with southern food, roaming entertainment and singing of the National Anthem. The Lancaster County Council of the Arts will announce the winners of the Red Rose Photography contest, then presentation of colors followed by Lancaster’s very own, and winner of the 2012 Women In Rock Showcase, Pam Taylor of “Stolen Hearts.” Topping off the evening is Ken Knox & Company, “The former member of Chairmen of the Board and member of the North and South Carolina and the Carolina Beach Music Hall of Fame, Ken Knox” is sure to bring everyone to their feet with great excitement for Saturday’s musical line up!

Saturday’s featured events begin at 10am, The Native American Center Museum, Red Rose Photography Contest, Red Rose Dog Show and Red Rose Car Show all begin at 10am.

Lancaster SPCA Red Rose Dog Show, sponsored by Wal-Mart and Nutra Max, invite you to bring your furry k-9 to the back park of the Historic Courthouse to compete for Best Smile, Best Dressed, Most Talented and Top Dog until noon. The Native American Center featuring the largest collection of Catawba pottery in the world and will showcases multi talented arts from the Catawba Indians and native arts at the Museum until 6pm. The Red Rose Car Show, sponsored by Memory Lane Cruisers and Hwy 55 Burgers, invite car enthusiasts to take a stroll through their beautiful collection of classic cars that are known as one of the best in the state. All proceeds benefit the Wounded Warriors’ Project. For the photography enthusiast in all of us, come into the Historic Springs House on Catawba and Gay Street until 5 pm to view the beautiful entries of the Red Rose Photography contest presented by the Lancaster County Council of the Arts.

Artisans and crafters will be on hand selling collectibles, along with hand-crafted items such as art, jewelry, children’s clothing and crafts beginning at 10am on Main Street. The Kids Zone opens for a FREE day of amusements, a Karate demonstration by Kenaki Karate, and meet-and-greets in Red Rose Park with Panther’s Sir Purr, Knight’s Castle Homer, City of Lancaster’s Rosie and much more!

The City Stage comes alive with The Red Rose Worship Choir directed by Jason Burley, Minister of Music and Worship at Covenant Baptist Church featuring various church choirs in the area.

Country sweetheart and American Idol placing in the top 50 of Fox’s hit series “American Idol”, Emily Minor kicks off the day with her high energy show filled with classic country favorites and original hits.

Keep your boots on for local country boy “The Matt Tucker Band” at 2pm. Performing many country favorites influenced by Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, Kenny Chesney and Garth Brooks, Matt Tucker will keep your boots kicking to self written singles and country favorites.
Back by popular demand, Transit Vocal Band will hit the stage at 4pm. Transit is all band no instruments! “Combining soaring leads, smooth harmonies and a thumping rhythm section, Transit demonstrates the power, versatility and emotion of the most natural instrument of all, the human voice”.

Cooling off the day is one of 2014’s number 1 beach bands, The Entertainers. Founded in 1980, the Entertainers are sure to bring the beach to our stage with their #1 hit “Thank Goodness She Cheated,” as well as classic beach and soul hits! Shagging on the blvd. on Main in Lancaster is where the fun continues!

Labeled the ultimate Michael Jackson tribute band for the last 10 years, “Who’s Bad” is sure to impress the Red Rose Festival’s young and old alike with a tribute of “the King of Pop’s” entire career from his Motown days with the Jackson 5 to his last solo efforts, “Who’s Bad”, is in their 11th year touring world-wide. You’ll be amazed and captivated at the talents of everyone in the tribute. “Who’s Band” headlines the 2015Red Rose Festival at 8pm.

The 2015 Red Rose Festival promises something for everyone. It’s the event of the year in Lancaster and we hope you will join us to see why we are excited about our Red Rose City.
