Small Grants are available to individual artists, non-profit organizations and schools throughout York County, SC. The deadline to apply for small grants through the Arts Council of York County is 5pm on Mar. 1, 2016.
The Small Grants Program provides support for small or pilot arts activities, artist professional development, new and developing programs or organizations, and special projects of high artistic quality that cannot support themselves. Previous grant recipients include: the African American Cultural Resources Committee (public art), Marcia Kort Buike (art workshop), Carolina Crown (middle school music clinic and performance), Rock Hill Community Theatre (musical theatre production), and the Rock Hill Economic Development Corporation (public art).
Organizations and individual artists may request up to $1,000 per grant and may receive up to two grants in a calendar year. Applications for the April – June 2016 granting period are due by Mar. 1, 2016 at 5pm. The Arts Council’s offices are closed the first, third (and fifth) weekends each month. Should the deadline fall on a weekend, grant applications must be submitted by 5pm the Friday before. Prospective applicants MUST discuss the proposed project with the Executive Director at least 10 days in advance of the application deadline date. This small grants program is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts and the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation.
