The Blowing Rock Art & History Museum in Blowing Rock, NC, is presenting “Inside 28605: The Art of Blowing Rock”, on view in the Alexander Community Room, through July 24, 2016.

While 28605 may be a familiar number, seven women artists from the High Country have found creative ways to express the extraordinary in the area encompassed by the Blowing Rock, NC, zip code. The group of women have met twice a month for eight years inspiring and critiquing each other’s work.

“We are bound together by a love of art and inspired by creative thinking and ideas,” says LaMae Strange. Preferring oil painting as her medium, Strange is one of the featured artists for the “28605” exhibit.

Other featured artists in the exhibit include Theresa Early (fabric art, quilting), Kat Leahey (mixed media), Ellie Lyne (photography), Priscilla Popper (photography), Linda Dease Smith (fabric art, mixed media), and Annie Stone (mixed media).

The artists have created their impressions of objects, buildings, landmarks and scenes in their chosen medium  to reflect the unique qualities of the Blowing Rock area. This exhibit is sure to amaze and inspire both natives and newcomers of the area.
