Mint Hill Arts in Mint Hill, NC, Calls for Entries for Annual “People’s Choice Award” Art Show – Deadline July 29. 2017

Mint Hills Arts, located at 11205 Lawyers Rd., Ste. A, Mint Hill, NC, 28227 is calling for entries for its Annual “People’s Choice Award” Art Show, which will be on view from August 4-23, 2017.

The Mint Hill Arts (MHA) annual “People’s Choice Award” show will be held August, 2017 and is open to MHA members and non-members. Artists are encouraged to submit their work using any mediums and subject matter. MHA will be accepting submissions Friday, July 28, from 4-6pm and Saturday, July 29, from 10am–noon. Additional information and forms for entering the show are available on the Mint Hill Arts website; (www.minthillarts.org).

Awards will be given to the artwork with the most votes in five categories: Best in Show, Prettiest, Funniest, Most Creative, and Best Repurposed Art. Awards are determined by the number of votes a piece of art receives in each of the five categories. To kick-off voting in the “People’s Choice Award” show, MHA will host a reception, from 7-9pm, Friday, Aug. 4, 2017. The reception is free (donations are greatly appreciated) and open to the public.

Ballots will continue to be accepted until Aug. 23, 2017. Please stop by to cast your vote and visit the gallery and gift store.

Hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 10am – 4pm.

Admission Fees:
MHA Members: $10 for up to 2 pieces.
Non-members: $30 for up to 2 pieces.

Sizes: 2-D work cannot exceed 60″ x 60″ vertically or horizontally and 3-D work cannot exceed a 36″ footprint x 7′ in height, and must be easily transportable, fit through the door, and be displayed appropriately.

Rules:

Each artist may enter up to two (2) individual pieces in any medium.

All work must be original. Reproductions of work done by other artists will be disqualified.

All 2D artwork must be properly framed and wired (see website for more information). If your 2-D work does not require a frame, hanging must be thought out so it is ready to be displayed. Please try to avoid using poor quality frames (we’ve had artwork fall and break due to this).

All artists must fill out our Gallery Registration Form and affix our Intake Labels. See the MHA website for more information and links to these forms. It will save you time at Intake to print them, fill them out and bring them in with your artwork, but they will be available at Intake for those who choose to fill them out in the gallery.

Mint Hill Arts accepts all artwork but reserves the right to turn down any artwork that it deems as inappropriate, unsafe for public display or too difficult to install.

Entering artists must be 18 years old or have written permission from a parent/guardian.

All artwork must remain in the show until its closing, unless it is sold in which case it can be taken from the gallery at the time of the sale. If you have an emergency and must remove your artwork, you must notify the Gallery Chair (tbarbato@carolina.rr.com) and make arrangements accordingly.

For all sales, MHA withholds a 20% commission.
