Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County in Camden, SC, Announces Winners of the 2017 Youth Arts Month Exhibition

The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) in Camden, SC, announces the winners of the 2017 “You Gotta Have Art” Youth Arts Month Exhibition. This juried exhibition is an annual event in partnership with the Kershaw County School District (KCSD.) Students’ work were submitted by participating schools’ K-12 art teachers. Awards were distributed during the opening reception which was held in conjunction with the youth play, Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids. The artwork was judged by local artists Jack Pierce and Brian Pierce, who chose first through third place winners, along with honorable mentions. The winning pieces (with the exception of any 3D pieces) will travel throughout the county as the 2017 Traveling Art Exhibition. The Traveling Art Exhibition concludes with a stop at the State House in Columbia, SC.

The Bassett Gallery at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC), in Camden, SC, is currently accepting artist materials for consideration for exhibition in the Bassett Gallery to be scheduled from September 2016 through May 2017. All submissions will be considered for both solo and group exhibitions.

Artists must submit samples via e-mail, linked to a “cloud” portfolio (Drop Box, Google Drive,) or by sending a CD or flash drive with at least 10 images. These images should encompass the artists’ methods and styles. A resume, submission form, description of the style of work, its size and medium used should all be included. Submissions must also include a brief artist statement and be representative of the work that will be on exhibition. All forms of artistic mediums will be considered.

Submission forms can be found on the Fine Arts Center website at (www.fineartscenter.org/gallery), or you may drop by the FAC Box Office to get a copy. Materials will not be returned unless requested.

Materials will be accepted through May 20, 2016.

The selected artists will be notified by the FAC no later than June 30, 2016.
Exhibitions in the Bassett Gallery normally change every four to six weeks.

The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) in Camden, SC, invites you to join us Tuesday, May 12, 2015, for the opening reception of the “Camden ART Members’ Spring Honors Show” in the Bassett Gallery. The reception begins at 5:30pm and will be followed by the Chamber Choir of Kershaw County’s Spring Concert at 7pm in the Wood Auditorium. The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Each year, the “Camden ART Spring Honors Show” presents an opportunity to view more works of the winners of the “Annual Fall Show”. This show promises to be an amazing exhibition of local creativity in a variety of styles and mediums. The winners that will be represented are  Carl Craighead (Fall 1st place winner), Beth Woodall (Fall 2nd place winner) and Margaret Bass (Fall 3rd place winner). The show will also include other artists from Camden ART. The “Camden ART Honors Show” continues through June 11, 2015, in the Bassett Gallery.

Camden ART in Camden, SC, Announces Winners of Fall Show

The winning pieces of the “Camden ART Fall Show” were recently announced during the Opening Reception in the Bassett Gallery on the campus of the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County in Camden, SC. The “Fall Show” was judged by Columbia, SC, artist Michael Story. Three winners, along with two honorable mentions and the People’s Choice winners were named.

The Bassett Gallery is full of great art work from more than a dozen local artists. The show combines the unique works of some of the most talented artists in the state and features more than 43 original works of art. Almost all of the works on exhibition are available for sale through the FAC. All of the winning pieces along with other works of art by Camden ART members will be on display in the Bassett Gallery through Jan. 16, 2015.

Camden ART is a group of local artists, both professional and amateur, who meet the first Monday of each month at the FAC. Camden ART welcomes anyone interested in visual arts to join this affiliate club. Membership will provide opportunities for artists to showcase their work, to hear from speakers and demonstrators who can share their expertise, and meet other artists in the community. Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County in Camden, SC, Announces Winners of the “2013 Youth Arts Month Exhibit”

More than 140 pieces of art by Kershaw County school children were submitted to the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County’s (FAC) “Youth Arts Month Exhibit” in Camden, SC, this year. After much deliberation, the winners have been announced. The juried exhibit of elementary, middle and high school artwork by students throughout Kershaw County in a variety of media, from colored pencil and watercolor to mixed media, photography, and sculpture will be in the Bassett Gallery through Apr. 5, 2013.

*The winners will become part of a traveling exhibit to be hosted by Kershaw County organizations over the next year. The exhibit will also make a trip to the State Capital before returning to the FAC. Congratulations to all of our talented participants and winners!

Camden ART February Meeting Takes Place at Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County in Camden, SC – Feb. 4, 2013

The February Meeting of Camden ART, an affiliate of the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC,) will include a hands on Collage Workshop led by Jane Hannon, a well-known local artist. The meeting will take place on February 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Daniels Education Building of the Fine Arts Center located on the corner of Lyttleton and York streets in Camden, SC.

Jane Hannon is an award-winning artist and teacher with art degrees from Limestone College and the University of South Carolina. Hannon was one of the artists chosen for the Palmetto Project and has been a repeat award winner at the South Carolina State Fair as well as The Camden ART sponsored Fall Art Show. She is also a member of the Artists’ Attic in Camden, a local artists’ cooperative. Hannon has over 30 years of experience creating art in many different mediums. Collage is a technique of creating art by combining various materials such as photos, paper, cloth, found objects, etc. onto a surface. The workshop is free and open to the public.

The Camden Art Association is a group of local artists, both professional and amateur, who meet the first Monday of each month and present two annual exhibits in the Fine Arts Center’s Bassett Gallery.  The CAA welcomes anyone interested in the arts to join this affiliate club.  Membership will provide opportunities for artists to showcase their work, to hear from speakers and demonstrators who can share their expertise, and meet other artists in the community.
