The Arts Council of York County in Rock Hill, SC, executive director, Debra Heintz, announced today the receipt of a $5,000 grant from York County Community Foundation. This grant was awarded to assist with funding for new comprehensive software to expertly manage current patrons and support growth in the next 5-7 years and to expand the annual Blues & Jazz Festival in October.

The Arts Council provides opportunities for economic and cultural growth while providing quality arts programs for residents and tourists. Art programs funded or presented by the Arts Council attract an average of 120,000 attendees per year from 128 cities, 29 states and 5 countries, producing a $7 million economic impact annually.  Culture and diversity are positive indicators of vibrant communities and educational achievement. The arts drive revitalization and attract creatives that bring new ideas into the workforce and stimulate youth to meet tomorrow’s challenges.

Arts and culture help brand York County as a premier arts destination; one of the Arts Council’s strategic planning goals. The symbiotic relationship of the arts with community development projects has been successfully demonstrated in the past. Funding from Foundation of the Carolinas will help continue such projects with other community partners.
