Caldwell Arts Council in Lenoir, NC, Announces Results of Exposures 2012 Photography Competition

The Caldwell Arts Council is pleased to announce the winners of the Exposures 2012 Photography Competition, judged by Phil Rhyne of West Jefferson, NC. Competition photography was judged in three categories, “Found Moments” (images of everyday life), “Places” (travel images, landscapes), and “Pictorial/Photoshop” (abstract, artistic images). This exhibit continues through Apr. 27, 2012.

Caldwell Arts Council in Lenoir, NC, Calls for Entries for Photography Competition

The Caldwell Arts Council in Lenoir, NC, will present the exhibit, EXPOSURES 2012 – Photography Competition Apr. 6-27, 2012

ELIGIBILITY – Open to all photographers whose primary source of income is NOT photography, and who live, work, or attend school in the counties of Alexander, Avery, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Watauga, and Wilkes.

ENTRY FEE – A non-refundable entry fee of $10 entitles the artist to display up to three (3) works in any combination of categories.

SPECIFICATIONS Work must be delivered to the Caldwell Arts Council Monday or Tuesday April 2-3, 9am-5pm. Work must be picked up after 4pm on Friday April 27 or between 9-5 on Monday April 30; another exhibit is arriving the next day. All photography must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibit. All work must not have been shown in the Caldwell Arts Council gallery previously. All photography must be framed and ready to hang (hooks and/or hanging wire attached). Canvas-wrap photography is fine. Photography must not exceed 3′ in any direction. Complete and attach the Title Blocks on back of this prospectus to the bottom-right-front of each framed photo. We will remove these once printed gallery tags are matched up. Any piece not fulfilling the criteria will be pulled from the exhibit and the entry fee will be forfeited. The Caldwell Arts Council reserves the right not to display every piece submitted. CATEGORIES – submit up to 3 photos in any combination of these categories:
“Found Moments” (images of everyday life)
“Places” (travel images, landscapes)
“Pictorial/Photoshop” (abstract, artistic images)
The photographer shall decide category for each image submitted.

AWARDS: The following awards will be issued at judge’s discretion; all awards may not be presented
First Place in each category …………… $75, Second Place in each category ………. $50, Third Place in each category ………….. $25.

RECEPTION – A reception will be held at the Caldwell Arts Council on Friday, Apr. 6 from 5-7:30pm. Everyone is invited to attend & bring friends. Awards will be presented at 6pm.

JUDGE – Phil Rhyne is an outdoors-man who captures his experiences in photography, with primary special-ties of wildlife and landscapes. In recent years he has devoted more time to sharing the photograph experience with others, by teaching how to record an image that reflects a subject correctly. He is a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography and a member of Nikon Professional Services. Whether capturing an image of a hungry grizzly or listening to the call of a loon, he is at home outdoors.

SALES – Artwork may be marked for sale or not for sale (NFS). The Caldwell Arts Council retains a 30% commission on all sales. Any work not for sale should have an insurance value indicated. Once price/insurance value of a piece is specified, it shall remain for the duration of the exhibit. The Caldwell Arts Council will conduct all sales transactions

The Caldwell Arts Council in Lenoir, NC, announces a “Call for Photographers” to compete in the “Exposures 2012 Photography Competition”, April 6-27, 2012.

This competition is open to photographers who live, work, or attend school in the counties of Alexander, Avery, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Watauga, and Wilkes, and whose primary source of income is NOT photography.
