The Lancaster County Council of the Arts is hosting a poetry reading by the poets in the Vistas ~ Visions and Verse exhibit on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, from 2-4pm at the historic Springs House in Lancaster, SC. This exhibit, which will hang in the galleries through December, pairs original poetry with paintings by 14 different area artists.  This reading is free and open to the public.

The Springs House is located at 301 West Gay Street in Lancaster, SC.

Lancaster County Council of the Arts in Lancaster, SC, Calls for Entries for Marian Hagins Memorial Art Competition 2012 – Deadline Aug. 31, 2012

The Marian Hagins Memorial Art Competition 2012 will start accepting work Aug. 27-31, 2012, during Lancaster County Council of the Arts hours, 9am to 5pm. Work will ONLY be accepted during these hours. The reception will be held at The Historic Springs House located on 201 W Gay St, Lancaster, SC, on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012 from 3pm to 5pm. All work must be original, no copies, pattern paintings, crafts, photographs, stitch work or sculptures. All work must have been done in the last two years. All paintings must be framed, ready to hang, and identified on the back with the names of the artist, title, medium and price. If not for sale please mark “NFS”. Work must be in the following media:  oil, watercolor, water-media, pastel, charcoal, acrylic, pencil, colored pencil, pen and ink, or mixed media of the above. The Hagins’ Family nor the Lancaster County Council of the Arts can assume responsibility for any damage or loss of works of any work not picked up at the end of the show. There is no entry fee. Each artist may enter two paintings no smaller than 12 inches nor larger than 72 inches in dimension including the frame. All work will be hung as space allows, so list in order of preference.  We reserve the right to reject any painting which seems unsuitable. Bringing any entry to this exhibition constitutes an agreement with all conditions in the prospectus.
