Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County in Fayetteville, NC, Calls for Entries for Photography Exhibit

September 30, 2018

Commitment, Sacrifice, Courage, Service, Dedication, Strength, Heroism … powerful words that may especially touch our hearts in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, which has devastated much of our area. These are also the touchstone words on the public art walls of NC Veterans Park in downtown Fayetteville, NC.

“Touchstone: Images of Service” is the inspiration for a photography competition with $2,000 in total awards, as well as an upcoming juried exhibition at the Arts Center, home of the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County, which at 301 Hay St., is just a short stroll from the NC Veterans Park.

Photographers are asked to submit their interpretations of these seven words as expressed through any profession or everyday life. An experienced juror, Laurie Schorr, Director of Education at the Light Factory in Charlotte, will select works from artists across North Carolina for the exhibition from Oct. 26, 2018 through Jan. 12, 2019.

Artists must enter at (www.theartscouncil.com/touchstone) by the deadline of midnight Wed., Oct. 3, 2018. Here are some additional details:
All types of photography are eligible and must be uploaded on the Arts Council site for consideration. All images should be recent works (3-5 years). Artists can submit up to 10 photographs, and must include each work’s title, size and any other pertinent information. Submissions must not have been shown or previously entered in any Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County exhibition. The fee is $25 each for up to three submitted photographs, and $10 each thereafter for up to 10 works.

Additional information can be found at (www.theartscouncil.com/touchstone), or contact Adrienne Trego at (adriennet@theartscouncil.com), 910/323-1776, ext. 228.

The Touchstone exhibition is made possible through the generous support of The UPS Store.
