Wilmington Art Association Calls for Entries for the “36th Annual Juried Spring Show and Sale” Taking Place in Wilmington, NC – Deadline is Feb. 26, 2018

The Wilmington Art Association (WAA) invites artists to submit work for its “36th Annual Juried Spring Show and Sale”. This show will be open Apr. 7-15, 2018 in Wilmington, NC, during the annual North Carolina Azalea Festival.

The WAA welcomes Janette K. Hopper as the Juror/Judge for the 2018 “WAA Annual Juried Spring Art Show and Sale”. Hopper is an active painter, printmaker and performance artist here in Wilmington. Last year’s art activities included a one-person show at the Wilma Daniels Gallery, an exhibit at Art in Bloom, her Japanese print inspired the mural at Nikki’s on Front St. and a performance with a New York dance troop, as part of Cucalorus. She received her Masters of Fine Art in Painting from the University of Oregon and has taught here in the United States, with her position as the Art Department Chair at UNC Pembroke, bringing her to North Carolina

Deadline for entries is Feb. 26, 2018 at 5pm. The show is open to all artists 18 years of age and older and will include original works in painting, pastel, drawing, printmaking, photography, digital imaging, fiber art, mixed media and three-dimensional work. Monetary and merchandise awards will be in excess of $4000.

The Wilmington Art Association in Wilmington, NC, is calling for entries for its “36th Annual Juried Spring Art Show & Sale” which will take place at the Hannah Block Community Arts Center, from Apr. 7 – 15, 2018.

The “36th Annual Juried Spring Show and Sale”, the Official Art Show for the Annual Azalea Festival, will be here before you know it! WAA is pleased to announce that this year’s show has been extended over two weekends giving the artists more days to display and sale their work. Other changes are in the works as well and soon to be announced.

Online submission opens Jan. 8 closing Feb. 26, 2018. The Show will once again be at the Hannah Block Community Arts Center in downtown Wilmington.

Wilmington Art Association (WAA) solicits the work of artists for its “34th Annual Juried Spring Show and Sale”. This show will be open April 8-10, 2016 in Wilmington, NC, during the North Carolina Azalea Festival.

The juror/judge for this show will be Chad Matthew Smith of Durham, NC. Smith is represented nationally in galleries from New York to Colorado and his work is collected internationally. He has garnered awards at the Finger Lakes Plein Air Show and at the American Impressionist Society’s Annual National Juried Exhibition and has conducted numerous workshops.

Submissions may be made from 11 January through 29 February 2016.

The show is open to all artists 18 years of age and older and will include original works in painting, pastel, drawing, printmaking, photography, digital imaging, fiber art, mixed media and three-dimensional work. Monetary and merchandise awards will be in excess of $4000.

The 2016 Spring Show Committee of the Wilmington Art Association in Wilmington, NC, announces the Poster Art Contest for the “34th Annual Juried Art Show & Sale” (Show). The winning artwork will be featured on:  a framed poster to be auctioned off at the Show; posters available for sale at the Show; smaller posters, cards, and invitations; and other publicity material for the Show.

Entry requirements:
Current membership (2015) in the WAA
Artwork in any 2-D media and on any non-offensive subject
*New Submission Option High quality resolution images of 3-D work.
One piece of artwork per artist

Submission requirements:
Entry must be e-mailed to (bcarter.art@outlook.com).  Your entry should include artwork in .jpg format as well as artist’s name, address, phone number and e-mail address.
Signature on the artwork must be blocked.
Submittal of entries opens Oct. 1, 2015
Deadline to receive entries is 8pm Eastern Standard Time, Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015.

Selection:
The Show committee will select the winning artwork on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015. The winner will be contacted immediately and announced on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015 at the WAA Holiday Banquet.

Selected Artwork:
The selected artwork may not be entered into the Show.  The artwork will be displayed at the Show and may be offered for sale; however, it is not required to be for sale.  If the artwork is sold either prior to or during the Show, the standard 30% commission will be due WAA.  A framed poster will be on display and auctioned off at the Show with proceeds to benefit WAA. The artist will be asked to sign posters during the Show reception on Thursday, Apr. 7, 2016. All proceeds from poster sales will benefit WAA.

The Wilmington Art Association (WAA) in Wilmington, NC, announces a call for artists, open to Middle, High School, & Adult Artists for the “Budding and Blooming Art Show”, the first of what will be an annual event
providing opportunities for young, budding artists to be entrepreneurs for the day, selling their art or craft for their own set prices along with 20 blooming adult artists in
show of support at the Mayfaire Town Center on the Green, June 28, 2014, from 10am – 4pm.

Selected budding artists are asked to donate 10% of their sales to the Cameron Art Museum’s Children’s Art School Scholarship Fund. Selected budding artists will receive one of 40 spaces FREE of charge and 5 budding music groups will be chosen to perform on the stage throughout the day as well as sell their music related products. All artists will be under a large tent at Mayfaire Town Center on the green.

Artists will be chosen through a committee selection process. The show will provide an additional 20 paid spaces to blooming adult artists through a separate application as show of support for their budding counterparts. The show is a non-profit event sponsored by the WAA to support local youth and adult artists.

The upcoming Wilmington Art Association (WAA) “2014 Annual Juried Spring Art Show and Sale” will mark the 32nd anniversary for the art show.  The WAA is a non-profit organization which seeks to educate members and the public in the fine arts, provide scholarship assistance to deserving college students, and provide an outlet for emerging and professional artists.  The upcoming event will be held Friday, April 11– Sunday, April 13 during the 2014 North Carolina Azalea Festival.

The WAA is excited to announce the addition of three-dimensional (3-D) art to this year’s show.  Three-dimensional work may be executed in any medium to include metal, ceramic, glass, wood, paper, and mixed media. WAA expects that this addition will be a tremendous opportunity for regional 3-D artists as well as provide visitors with an additional visual experience.  The Show is expected to attract more than 300 artists from across the Southeast with over 150 artists selected to display their work.

Online entry will begin Monday, January 13, 2014.

The Show will once again be held in the Hannah Block Historical USO Building/Community Art Center, 120 South Second St. Wilmington, NC.

This year, WAA welcomes Bob Rankin as the juror/judge for the Show. Rankin earned his BS Degree in Art Education from East Carolina University in 1971.  He also studied at NC State University’s School of Design and the American Institute of Foreign Study in London. His career as an art educator spanned more than 25 years in the Wake County Public Schools.  Additionally, he served as the Co-Chairman of the NC Art Education Association, Secondary Division from 1982-1985. His artwork has been exhibited in New York, Philadelphia, Aspen, and Marrakesh among other national and international cities. Rankin has received numerous awards including East Carolina University Alumni Association’s 2012 Distinguished Service Award, the “Secondary Art Educator of the Year” by the NC Art Education Association, and the “Raleigh Medal of Arts” in 1992. He is a seven-time winner of the “Best Spectator/Metro Magazine Best Artist in the Triangle.” The National Scholastic Art Awards Organization recognized him as the creator of one of the nation’s premier high school art programs. He currently maintains active studios in Raleigh, NC, and Leesville Lake, VA, as well as conducts art workshops across the country and in Italy.

Each spring during the North Carolina Azalea Festival, the Wilmington Art Association (WAA) presents its “Annual Juried Spring Art Show and Sale”. This year, we are celebrating our 32nd year. The WAA is a non-profit organization that seeks to educate members and the public in the fine arts, provide scholarship assistance to deserving college students, and provide an outlet for emerging and professional artists.

ELIGIBILITY
The Show is open to all artists 18 years of age and older. Artists may submit ORIGINAL two-dimensional (2-D) work to include painting, pastel, drawing, printmaking, photography, digital imaging, fiber art, and mixed media, and three-dimensional (3-D) work.

MEET THE JUROR

The Wilmington Art Association is now accepting entries for their 2012 Spring Art Show & Sale. In celebrating it’s 30th year for this event – the WAA is offering more than four-thousand dollars in monetary and merchandise awards. Open to both amateur and professional artists – this year’s show will be held Apr. 13 – 15, 2012, at St. James Episcopal Church on Dock Street in Wilmington, NC. Anyone 18 and over may compete, and original works of two-dimensional art and photography may be submitted (with the exception of stained glass).

There are two major changes in this year’s Spring Show: all artwork will be submitted and juried ONLINE… and computer manipulated photography will be accepted – in a new category called DIGITAL CONCEPTUALIZATION.
