The Trade Alley Art Gallery in Hickory, NC, is Calling for Entries for Its “Annual Juried Arts Exhibition” – Deadline August 31, 2020

Artists of all ages are invited to apply for an open-themed, juried exhibition presented by Trade Alley Art Gallery, held Tuesday, October 6th through Friday, October 23rd, 2020. Trade Alley Art is a contemporary art gallery located in the heart of historic downtown Hickory, North Carolina. Cash prizes of $1,200 to be awarded. All hanging, 2D media and art styles will be considered.

ELIGIBILITY:

Entries must be original 2-dimensional works of art that have been completed within the last three years. Works must not exceed 24” in any dimension, including the frame. All 2D work must be suitably framed (or sides cleanly finished or painted), wired, and ready for hanging. D-rings should be used for heavy works. 2D works on paper must be framed under plexiglass or glass. Must have securely attached wire to hang. No saw tooth hangers, and no work can be hung from ceiling.

ACCEPTANCE:

Accepted work may be refused if it does not conform to the entered image or it does not meet eligibility requirements. Absolutely NO substitutions of accepted works will be allowed. All accepted work must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.

JURY PROCEDURE:

Artists selected to be in the show will be notified by email by September 14, 2020 and expected to deliver the chosen artworks during the drop-off dates of September 27 and 28, 2020, 10am-4pm. The judge for the exhibit is esteemed artist, Clay James, a native to Maiden and former Art program coordinator at LRU from 2012 – 2017. He received his MFA at the Academy of Fine Arts, San Francisco and is currently the set designer for HCT.

Cash prizes will be awarded as follows:
1st place–$500.00
2nd place–$300.00
3rd place–$200.00
People’s choice award–$100.00
Honorable mention (2 winners)–$50.00 each

Deadline for entry: August 31, 2020
Artist notification: September 14, 2020
Delivery of accepted art: 10am-4pm
Sunday, Sept. 27th & Monday, Sept. 28th, 2020
Show opens: October 6, 2020
Reception and awards ceremony: 6pm-9pm–October 9, 2020
Show close: October 23, 2020
Pick-up art: 10am-4pm–Saturday, October 24, 2020

ENTRY FEE:

* $35.00 non-refundable fee for up to 3 works of art.

SALES:

All art must be for sale and marked as such with applicable pricing. Trade Alley Art will retain a 30% commission on all artworks sold during the show’s duration.

DROP-OFF AND RETURN:

All accepted work must be hand-delivered on the drop-off dates of September 27 and 28, 10am-4pm. All accepted work must be picked up on Monday, October 26 through Friday October 30. The gallery accepts no responsibility for work not retrieved on pick-up date. After 30 days the gallery may dispose of the work.
